BEFORE THE WEDDING

Attire Guidance

The Wedding Day is exclusively a black tie event. Black tie attire consists only of either an evening gown or a dark tuxedo with a black bow tie.

National dress refers to traditional garments worn by your culture at black tie events in lieu of regular black tie attire. This may take the form of formal Filipiniana, sari, highland jacket and tartan kilt, or many others. We recognize and uplift the various cultures represented within our close circles. As this event celebrates the joining of our two halves of the world into one, we encourage those who have license to use national dress to wear it to honor our union.

Pictured above, right: A traditional barong Tagalog handwoven from pineapple fabric with raya embroidery. This men's national dress of the Philippines is often used in diplomatic functions, weddings, and other formal events.

Health & Safety

COVID-19 Policy

With the groom and many guests being highly susceptible to illnesses triggered and heightened to dangerous levels by a COVID-19 infection, we strongly request you to attend only if you are not exhibiting any symptoms of illness or if you test negative on the day of the ceremony.

Please help us keep everyone safe and healthy.

Allergy Information

We are so looking forward to celebrating with you on our Wedding Day. Before mailing your response card, please ensure that all your allergy information has been noted properly on the reverse side. This will greatly help our chefs craft a dinner menu that is inclusive and enjoyable for all.

All allergy information you provide to us will be directly associated with your pre-assigned seat at the Celebration venue. If you have any additional dietary restrictions not already noted on your response card, please share it with your server at the Celebration venue at the earliest opportunity. We will exert the utmost effort to accommodate any day-of requests but we highly encourage that all allergy information be shared months prior to the Wedding Day.

To inquire about how we handle health restrictions or if you need to amend your allergy information, please don’t hesitate to contact us via email by clicking the button below.

Invitations & Security

Invitations feature guests' names handwritten on each card. Please bring this invitation card with you on the day of the event to verify your identity.

Enhanced security, which may include metal detectors and security personnel, may be present at certain areas. Your invitation bearing your name and matching the confirmed guest list will help you pass through any security screening procedures that may arise without issue.

We’ve arranged for three hotels near and around the celebration venue to welcome guests travelling to New York. Additionally, each stay includes a variety of benefits exclusive to the hotel of your choice to enhance your visit.

From 3:00 pm, prelude music will be played in the sanctuary. At 3:30 pm, please ensure all devices, such as mobile phones and personal cameras, are either secured inside your bags or pockets, or turned off.

Photography, video and sound recording by guests are not permitted inside the church past the prelude.

A vintage New York trolley will transport guests from the church, down through Broadway, to the celebration venue. The trolley will repeat this route until all guests are at 54 Below. The first trolley will be by the church steps at 4:30 p.m. and will depart as soon as it is full.

At the Celebration

Please enjoy open bar service until 10 p.m. Coffee and tea service is available at your pleasure throughout the night until celebrations conclude at 11 p.m.

About Knighthood

Sir Michael was made a Knight of Rizal in 2024 at the Consulate General of the Philippines in New York. In September 2025, he was elevated to Knight Commander. Upon marriage, Miss Nystrom becomes Lady Tiffany.

The Knights of Rizal has been an order of chivalry for over a hundred years. Chartered by Republic Act 646, its members include former heads of state and United Nations officials, as well as dignitaries like HM King Juan Carlos I of Spain, HM King Yuhi VI of Rwanda, Sir Henry Kissinger, and Sir Theodore Roosevelt III. The Order actively sponsors the disbursement of humanitarian aid around the world, organizes social and cultural events, and fervently promotes the Rizalian ideals of youth leadership, social justice, and internationalism. Knighthood is protected by statute and falsely claiming membership in the Order is punishable by law.

The Family Crest

Present in almost every facet of the wedding, from invitations to dinner menus to the masthead of this website, is the family crest which represents the joining of two households and the family of Miss Nystrom and Sir Michael hereafter.

A G interrupts an N and is tied together by a swirl at the midpoint, symbolizing the unity cord and referencing the promise of eternal union. These double in meaning as the same elements create a stylized compass rose that is marked by a line each on the east and west, alluding to the origins of the Nystrom and Galvez families. Atop all rests an eight-pointed star — a ward against evil in many cultures and a symbol of rebirth in the Catholic tradition — reflecting the holy flame of the unity candle and the solemnity of vows made under the Kingdom of God.

EXPLORE

01.

Bottega

The bookend. We went here on our "unofficial" first date and then again on our last date before the proposal.

RESTAURANT

02.

La Grande Boucherie

The official first date spot.

RESTAURANT

03.

Hybrid Florist

Michael visits this flower shop monthly to buy a single rose for Tiffany to celebrate another month together. Ask the friendly staff about their seasonal blooms and check out their garden in the back, if it's open.

SHOP

04.

Dim Sum Palace

Our go-to spot on Restaurant Row. Try the egg bun. It's delicious and it's as smooth as you wish your face was.

RESTAURANT

05.

See a Broadway Show

Here are our favorites that are currently running: "Hadestown," “Maybe Happy Ending," and "Hamilton." Visit the red TKTS stairs in Times Square for same-day deals. Don't forget to say hi to Tiffany at her office next door. Also, ask Michael about the time he got to party with the "Back to the Future The Musical" cast, featuring a light-up DeLorean cake.

SIGHT TO SEE

06.

Bryant Park

We experienced our first New York Christmas Tree-lighting ceremony here. Lots of greenery and interesting shops around. Check out the Japanese bookstore Kinokuniya and their extensive selection of stationery downstairs along with a couple floors of iconic artifacts of Japanese media, from Godzilla to Dragon Ball. Also, don't miss the original New York Public Library building featured in the film "The Day After Tomorrow" just across the park.

SIGHT TO SEE

07.

Harney & Sons SoHo Tea Shop

Many late Sunday afternoons were spent at this shop's tasting bar on our quest to try all of their nearly 200 tea options. Get a taste of a special Tausug Blend by Royal Warrant of the Sultan of Sulu and North Borneo made to honor and benefit the native Tausug people of the Philippines. If you have time, sit down at the cafe in the back and try their scones with Devonshire cream and fruit preserves. A must taste!

SHOP

08.

Jacob's Pickles

We celebrated Tiffany's birthday here with the best Southern food in town and some of the largest food portions Michael has ever seen. Make sure to try one of their pickle flights.

RESTAURANT

09.

South Norwalk, CT

Explore the town where this relationship blossomed by taking the 80-minute MetroNorth train to Connecticut. Sate your sweet tooth at The SoNo Baking Company; pet some sharks at the Maritime Aquarium; and watch the sunset at Calf Pasture Beach. There's also the hidden Thai soup shop called Nit Noi that you may be lucky enough to find open while you're there. (Tiffany has not been so lucky after many tries and now doubts Michael's insistence on this shop's existence.)

SIGHT TO SEE

10.

Kabayan Bistro Lounge

A slice of home cooking in Little Manila. From sisig to dinuguan, all of Michael's favorite dishes are served here. Around an hour away from Manhattan, Tiffany used to live in Queens near this area so this restaurant quickly became a staple.

RESTAURANT

11.

Little Pie Company

The best pies in town. The Sour Cream Apple Walnut Pie has a special place in Michael's heart while Tiffany recommends getting a taste of their tart Key Lime Pie (and that's coming from a Floridian). As an added bonus, the classic Alan Menken and Howard Ashman musical, "The Little Shop of Horrors," plays right across the street and acts as the perfect palate cleanser.

SHOP

12.

Tous Les Jours

This French-Asian bakery and patisserie is our first stop at almost every Koreatown trip. Try the curry croquette, the yuzu pie, and the ube latte. You'd regret it if you didn't.

SHOP

13.

Brookfield Place

A vibrant waterfront community featuring a park with a clear view of the Statue of Liberty, as well as shops, activities, and dining. We come here regularly to shop and eat by the Hudson River. Don't miss the tunnel connection to Oculus and the One World Observatory.

SIGHT TO SEE

14.

Jardin River

Take a ferry from Manhattan to this garden situated right under the Brooklyn Bridge. Wait until nighttime to visit to see it lit up for a magical experience. Michael almost proposed here but he quickly realized that he hadn't gotten a ring yet. The Van Leeuwen ice cream shop nearby offers some unique flavors you'd love to try.

SIGHT TO SEE

15.

Carl Shurz Park

Experience the area where we got engaged. The mayor of New York City lives in Gracie Mansion just up the park. Michael proposed steps from the mansion's backyard overlooking the East River on a dark yet starry night. Mansion Security made a brief cameo.
